Nokia’s first TD-SCDMA device – the Nokia 6788

Beijing, China – Nokia announced the Nokia 6788, its first device for TD-SCDMA – China’s domestic 3G standard, at an event in Beijing. The Nokia 6788 is the result of close collaboration between Nokia and the world’s largest mobile phone operator, China Mobile.

TD-SCDMA (time division synchronous code division multiple access) is a 3G mobile telephone standard developed by the China Academy of Telecommunications Technology (CATT).

Opera study: only 4.13% of the web is standards-compliant

Browser maker Opera has published the early results of an ongoing study that aims to provide insight into the structure of Internet content. To conduct this research project, Opera created the Metadata Analysis and Mining Application (MAMA), a tool that crawls the web and indexes the markup and scripting data from approximately 3.5 million pages.

Statistical analysis of the data collected by MAMA has provided Opera’s engineers with a unique understanding of emerging trends in web development and the way that standards-based web technologies are used on the Internet. Opera plans to take the project to the next level by building a search engine on top of the indexed data so that web designers, browser implementers, and standards experts can easily obtain information about real-world usage of web technologies. Meizu M8 Expected to Launch Here in December

It’s been a while since the Meizu M8 made the tech scene but it’s back now and with some exciting news too. The M8 is apparently due for a launch sometime in December this year and that’s not the only thing that’s got me raving. The fact that the Taiwan-based distribution company is also planning on an official Indian launch is what is making this a big deal. It’s not like there’s a shortage of i-Killers, but this just happens to be the closest competitor… or was it the HiPhone?
