Google Wave

July 24th, 2009 Jigish Thakar No comments

google came up with new product i.e. Google Wave. Still this product is in development phase and ll be launched in this year end. Just seen the above video, and found it very much impressive. So what is Google Wave, its a communication and collaboration tool. Go through the video and you ll find so many things new, the best part i found was commenting between others comment and the way it is presented on the window of you friend. another best part was its APIs, the way they have shown the working API on blog that was pretty impressive. Though this all is not something magic or completely new, but the way its represented is nice.

but also i have few question, how this will work efficiently on lower bandwidth? i am sure google has thinked something on this also. also API for orkut was not so impressive.

also the best part of this tool its gonna be opensource.

Google’s page speed

June 5th, 2009 Jigish Thakar No comments

Google introduced today another killer application that will make life easy for both webmasters and folks at Google. Its called Page Speed, and its a Firefox addon integrated with Firebug – the ace web developer addon on Firefox.

According to Google -

When you run Page Speed, you get immediate suggestions on how you can change your web pages to improve their speed. For example, Page Speed automatically optimizes images for you, giving you a compressed image that you can use immediately on your web site. It also identifies issues such as JavaScript and CSS loaded by your page that wasn’t actually used to display the page, which can help reduce time your users spend waiting for the page to download and display.

Why should you use Page Speed?

  • Make your site load faster.
  • Keep Internet users engaged with your site.
  • Reduce your bandwidth and hosting costs.
  • Improve the web!

Chrome 2.0 – Better, Faster, Stronger

May 22nd, 2009 Jigish Thakar No comments

Google Chrome 2, now out of beta, is less about exciting new features and more about better performance. There’s nothing impressive about adding full screen support, form filling or full-page zoom, since all of these features are already available in most browsers.

“Making the web faster continues to be our main area of focus. Thanks to a new version of WebKit and an update to our JavaScript engine, V8, interactive web pages will run even faster. We’ve also made sure that JavaScript keeps running fast even when you have lots of tabs open,” reveals Google Chrome’s blog.

Google’s own benchmark shows that the new version runs 30% faster than Chrome 1.0, but it’s probably a better idea to test the application for yourself.
