New plug-in brings powerful and easy-to-use 3D toolset to the Photoshop CS4 Extended interface
BOULDER, Colo., March 5 /PRNewswire/ — Today Electric Rain, Inc.(R) announced the release of Swift 3D(R) PS, a new plug-in that adds 3D modeling and animation tools to the Photoshop CS4 Extended authoring environment. The plug-in allows Photoshop users to quickly and easily accomplish simple to advanced 3D tasks without leaving the CS4 Extended interface.
“Swift 3D is already very well known in the Flash community and we’re excited to see it introduced as a plug-in to Photoshop CS4 Extended,” commented John Nack, Principal Product Manager for Photoshop & Bridge at Adobe Systems.
Swift 3D PS incorporates the same intuitive interface and toolset as the full version of Swift 3D, making it a good fit for designers that are new to 3D or want to accomplish simple 3D tasks. It also provides advanced modeling and animation capabilities, including new Boolean operations, for designers who want to delve deeper into 3D or expand the workflow into After Effects CS4.
“Swift 3D PS marks an exciting new direction for our designer-oriented 3D tools,” said Mike Soucie, President of Electric Rain. “By plugging into the world’s most powerful 2D design environment, Swift 3D PS not only simplifies and accelerates common “faux-3D” tasks, but opens the door for some very exciting new design possibilities in Photoshop and After Effects. We expect to see some amazing results.”

With more than 100 million downloads, MySQL is the world’s most popular open-source database. MySQL’s popularity is indicative of the growing adoption of open-source software. Developers are using open-source software because it offers them a reliable and low-cost alternative for developing their applications. This adoption trend extends to middleware too. For example, open-source servers are replacing proprietary servers in many enterprises. Case in point: GlassFish, an open-source, enterprise-quality, Java EE 5-compliant application server, enjoys significant popularity. With more than seven million downloads since its release in May 2005 and more than half a million downloads a month, GlassFish has a widespread and growing community of users.
When used together, MySQL and GlassFish provide an excellent, low-cost solution for quickly developing and deploying web applications that are not only secure and reliable, but also scale to meet increasing demand and are highly responsive to user requests.
The reasons that so many people download and use MySQL and GlassFish are compelling. In addition to being open source, MySQL and GlassFish are fast, reliable, and easy to use. Though attractive individually, MySQL and GlassFish when used together provide an excellent solution for quickly developing and deploying web applications that are not only secure and reliable, but also scale to meet increasing demand and are highly responsive to user requests.
This article, the first in a series of articles, covers the advantages of using MySQL with GlassFish and illustrates why the combination is a perfect choice for developing and deploying web applications. In future articles in the series, you’ll see how easy it is to build web applications that take advantage of MySQL and GlassFish features.
The IIS team is proud to announce the latest release of the Web Deployment Tool Beta 2, which includes significant new features for both IT professionals and developers. In addition to our existing functionality of server synchronization and migration, but we’ve added web application packaging and deployment with integration with IIS Manager and the upcoming Visual Studio 2010!
Because the Beta 2 release has brand-new functionality around application packaging not previously available, this release is not a production-ready or Go Live release. We will be changing and adding more functionality in the next milestone after Beta 2.
